How Is Passive vs. Nonpassive Treatment Determined for Schedule E, Page 2?

Understand how K1 Aggregator and CCH Axcess handle passive and nonpassive activity classification. K1 Aggregator supports Columns I–K as applicable for Schedule E, Page 2. Passive versus nonpassive treatment is determined within CCH Axcess, rather than through a separate K1 Aggregator mapping configuration.

How K1 Aggregator Sends the Data

K1 Aggregator sends the mapped K-1 data to the Partnership Passthrough activity in CCH Axcess.

K1 Aggregator is passive/nonpassive agnostic. This means K1 Aggregator does not determine whether the activity should receive passive or nonpassive treatment on Schedule E, Page 2.

How CCH Axcess Determines the Classification

Within CCH Axcess, the Class option on the K-1 activity record determines how CCH reports the activity.

For example, the activity can be designated in CCH Axcess as:

  • Nonpassive
  • Other passive (Default)

CCH Axcess uses the selected classification to populate the applicable passive or nonpassive columns on Schedule E, Page 2..

Note: If you need to change whether an activity is treated as passive or nonpassive, review the Class option for the applicable Schedule E, Page 2 activity in CCH Axcess. A separate passive/nonpassive mapping configuration is not required in K1 Aggregator.
