If Schedule B (Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-PF), Item "Organization type" is not equal to "501(c)(7)" and "501(c)(8)" and "501(c)(10)", then no more than one of the four checkboxes, one under "General Rule" and three under "Special Rules" must be checked.

Issue: For organizations other than types, 501(c)(7), 501(c)(8), and 501(c)(10), IRS rules require that no more than one checkbox be selected between: General Rule and Special Rules.

Resolution:

  1. Navigate to Tax Forms -> Form 990 -> Schedule B
  2. Select only one checkbox (General Rule or Special Rules)
  3. Click the "Save" button in the Tools bar
  4. Resubmit the return
