Adding and Managing Investors
The Investors section is where you add, import, and manage the investors associated with your entity. Investors must be added before you can access Jurisdictions, Allocation Codes, K-1 Builder, Statements, or the K-1 Packager.
Importing Investors
- Navigate to Investors in the left-hand navigation.
- Click Import and use the standard investor import template.
- Once the import completes, all imported investors appear immediately in the Investor Details grid, no additional association step is required.
|
💡 Imported investors are automatically associated to the entity. |
Import Multi-Associations
Use this step for any investor who has multiple partnership interests (e.g., the same investor with two different partner numbers).
- Select Upload Associations from the import dropdown.
- Download the template — it will pre-populate with all investors you have already imported.
- Find each investor who has multiple partnership interests and add an additional row to the template for that investor. Repeat this for every investor with more than one partnership interest.
- Enter all partner numbers in the column labeled Partner Number for each row.
- Import the completed template.
Import Jurisdiction-Specific Data (if applicable)
If your entity has state jurisdiction requirements, use this step to import jurisdiction-specific data for your investors.
- Select the jurisdiction import option from the import dropdown.
- Download the template — all investors will be pre-listed.
- Enter the jurisdiction-specific data for each applicable investor.
- Import the completed template.
|
💡 All three import steps — Importing Investors, Import Multi-Associations, and Import Jurisdiction-Specific Data — can also be completed manually for each investor directly on the Investor Details page. |
Viewing and Editing Investor Details
Click on any investor row to open the Investor Details page. This unified page lets you view and edit:
-
Investor-level information — Name, address, TIN, and other identifying details
-
Association-specific details — Partner number, ownership %, and other entity-level fields
-
Jurisdiction-specific information — State-level details for applicable jurisdictions
Designating a Rounding Investor
One investor per entity can be designated as the Rounding Investor to receive any residual rounding amounts during K-1 generation.
- Open the Investor Details page for the investor you want to designate.
- Scroll to the Association Detail section (the fifth section on the page).
- Check the Rounding Investor checkbox.
- Click Save.
A rounding indicator icon will appear next to that investor in both the Investor Details grid and the K-1 Packager grid.
|
💡 To change the rounding investor: Check the Rounding Investor checkbox on a different investor — the previous designation is cleared automatically. Only one rounding investor can be designated per entity at a time. |
