How to Complete the Entity Information Page
After creating a new project, you will be brought automatically to the Entity Information page, the first step in the K1 Creator project workflow. Follow the steps below to complete all applicable sections before moving on to the next step.
Enter Entity Information
In the Entity Information section, enter the core demographic details for the partnership:
- Enter the entity name, tax identification number, and all other identifying fields in this section.
- Review each field carefully, this information carries through to the generated K-1 package.
Enter Address Information
In the Address section, enter the partnership's address:
- Complete all applicable address fields for the partnership.
- The address entered here will appear on the generated K-1 forms where applicable.
Complete Project Configuration
The Project Configuration section contains one setting that applies to the entire project:
Include in Taxable Income — Line 20T: Check this box if Line 20T should be included in taxable income for this partnership. This setting applies project-wide.
Complete Additional Information
In the Additional Information section, provide any supplemental entity details required for K-1 generation:
- Complete any fields in this section that are applicable to the partnership.
Select a Software Integration (if applicable)
If your firm uses tax preparation software, identify the integration in this section:
- Select CCH Access if your firm uses CCH Access for tax preparation.
- Select GoSystem if your firm uses GoSystem for tax preparation.
- If neither integration applies, leave this section blank.
Selecting the correct integration ensures that K1 Creator output is formatted for direct use in your tax preparation software.
Enter Jurisdiction-Specific Data
The Jurisdiction-Specific Data section lists all supported US states and Federal, each with an expandable dropdown. For each jurisdiction that applies to this partnership:
- Locate the applicable jurisdiction in the list.
- Click the dropdown to expand it.
- Enter all required jurisdiction-specific data for that state or federal filing.
- Repeat for each applicable jurisdiction. Jurisdictions that do not apply to this partnership can be left blank.
|
💡 Entering jurisdiction-specific data here does not automatically activate that jurisdiction for the project. You must also go to the Jurisdictions page (Step 3 of the workflow) and turn on the toggle for each applicable state. Both steps are required to ensure the proper forms are included in the generated K-1 package. |
Save and Proceed
Once all applicable sections are complete:
- Click Save to save your changes on the Entity Information page.
- Proceed to the next step in the workflow.
