Where to Find Transfer Issues in GoSystem Tax + K1X
How to identify transfer-related errors using GoSystem Diagnostics, K1X Instance Settings, and Organizer checks
Applies to: K1X users transferring data into GoSystem Tax
Goal: Identify where transfer issues appear and how to pinpoint the cause (even without a “Transfer Errors” screen)
GoSystem Tax does not have a dedicated Transfer Errors window. Instead, transfer-related issues show up in a few different places. Use the steps below to track them down.
1) Review GoSystem Diagnostics (Primary Location)
Most transfer issues surface in Diagnostics, even if they don’t explicitly say “transfer error.”
Navigation:
GoSystem Tax → View → Diagnostics → Types folder
Check these sections first:

Errors
-
Alerts
-
XML validation errors
These messages often indicate missing or mismatched data originating from K1X, even when GoSystem labels them more generally.
2) Confirm Locator and Field Matching in K1X (Most Common Cause)
K1X will flag a transfer issue anytime key fields do not match the GoSystem Locator exactly. Even if GoSystem accepts some data, K1X may still report an error if required identifiers don’t line up precisely.
Navigation:
K1X → Tenant Settings → GoSystem → Instance Settings
Verify these fields match the GoSystem return exactly (including formatting, spacing, and spelling):

Account Number
-
Return ID (6-character Locator)
-
Tax Year
-
Entity Type
-
Tax Type (1041 / 1065 / 1120S / 1040)
-
State of Residence (if applicable)
-
EIN, activity numbers, and K-1 names
If any of the above differ from the GoSystem return (even slightly), K1X may report a transfer issue.
3) Review Organizer Sections Inside GoSystem
Sometimes the transfer partially completes. In these cases, GoSystem may not raise a diagnostic, but you’ll notice missing data inside the return.
In the Organizer, review:

K-1 partner/shareholder sections
-
Activities
-
State-related sections
-
Any areas showing blank or incomplete fields
If fields are unexpectedly empty, that typically signals a transfer mismatch or incomplete import.

Even though GoSystem doesn’t provide a “Transfer Errors” window, you can reliably find transfer issues by:

Reviewing Diagnostics (Errors, Alerts, XML validation errors),

Confirming exact field consistency between K1X Instance Settings and the GoSystem Locator, and

Checking Organizer sections for missing or partially imported data.
Most transfer issues ultimately trace back to a mismatch between K1X Instance Settings and the GoSystem Locator.
