Troubleshoot Foreign Forms in K1 Aggregator

Nothing downloads, or no file arrives

Only transferees with saved form answers are exported. Open each form, enter answers and save. The file is generated in the background, so wait for the Foreign Form Generation Complete notification. Check the filer name and EIN. If they are not entered on the form, K1 Aggregator uses the instance name and identifying number from the instance settings (General). If you see Foreign Form Generation Failed, try again.

Form 5471 will not generate

Fill in every row in the schedule tables. An empty row in any schedule, such as Schedule R, can cause generation to fail. On Schedule B, enter values in columns C and D. If the form still fails, contact support.

A Form 5471 schedule is missing

Select the checkbox for your Category of Filer. Until you select one, no schedules appear, and the category determines which schedules open. Schedule H-1 appears for filer categories 4, 5a and 5b. Schedule O applies to categories 2 and 3.

A transferee will not save, or is missing

The reference number cannot contain spaces or special characters, including a trailing space or parentheses. The transferee name must be unique. Edit the details in Transferee Information, not in the Select Transferee window.

Form 8865 shows APPLD FOR, or a blank, in an EIN box

Select the Identifying Number Type: EIN, SSN or Other. For Other, type the value in Reason for Missing Id. The PDF prints what you type. See Form 8865 Identifying Number Field Updates. For forms created before April 2026 that used N/A, change the type to Other and generate the PDF again.

Form 8865 XML shows APPLDFOR

In the XML, any entry in Reason for Missing Id is written as APPLDFOR. The PDF prints the text you typed.

A Form 926 or Form 8865 checkbox, or Include in Export, does not apply to other rows

These settings apply to the selected transferee row only, not to every row with the same transferee name. Set them on each row. In the Form 926 partnership table, Include in Export controls which partnership rows are printed, and each included row prints its own copy of Part I page 1.

A Form 926 partnership EIN is missing

Enter an override, or select a Missing EIN Reason (Applied For or Foreign) in the partnership table.

Form 926 XML fails validation with a pattern error

Enter the EIN as digits only, without a dash.

Various does not print

On the Form 926 Part III PDF for tax years 2024 and 2025, Various prints for the Date of Transfer. In the XML, the Date of Transfer is left out when Various is selected. In other fields, such as the amount, Various prints blank. Enter the value, or leave the field blank.

The Form 926 Transferee Summary has no mailing address

The report shows the transferee name and EIN or reference number only. To request the address, submit an enhancement request with Feedback in the application.

Form 8621 Part I Line 3 shows an error

Part I Line 3 is the number of shares held at the end of the year, with Integer and Decimal options. The XML field behind the Decimal option accepts only a ratio from 0 to 1 (up to 5 decimals), so a share count entered there fails XML validation. Use the Integer option for a share count.

A completed Form 8621 or 8865 was not read from an upload

K1 Reader does not read completed Form 8621 or Form 8865 PDFs, and Form 8865 uploaded as a K-1 is not supported. Enter the form manually.

Forms did not carry to the new tax year

A rollover copies transferee records only. For Form 926, use Copy Prior Year Form on the transferee form. For other forms, enter the answers again.

You cannot delete a form

If the form is locked, unlock it. If the investment is locked, unlock the investment.

You need to send forms to tax software
